You’ve found the perfect suit. Now, it’s time to make sure it travels as well as you do.
Packing a suit for a wedding can feel like a high-stakes game, but a few smart moves can make all the difference between arriving crisp and confident—or rumpled and rushed.
Start Fresh, Stay Fresh
Before you even think about packing, give your suit a quick once-over with a garment steamer. Starting with a smooth canvas means you’re already ahead of the game.
If you don’t have a garment bag (though we highly recommend one), rolling is far better than folding. Turn one shoulder of the jacket inside out, tuck the other shoulder into it, fold in half lengthwise, lay a dry-cleaning bag over it, and roll loosely. For trousers, follow the natural crease, use another layer of plastic, and roll gently.
Garment Bags: The Frequent Flyer’s Best Friend
If you do have a garment bag, you’re golden. Hang your suit inside, zip it up, and fold the bag gently in half for travel.
Flying? Don’t be shy—ask a flight attendant if there’s space to hang your bag in the airplane closet. Most are happy to help a well-dressed traveler headed to a special occasion.
Packing in a suitcase? Use a hard-shell case for extra protection. Lay your suit as flat as possible and cushion it with softer clothing. Driving to your event? Hang your suit from a hook in the back seat, or lay it flat across the back seat—never in the trunk, where it can get crushed under luggage.
